Rslogix 5000 free trial download
In short, the ControlLogix/CompactLogix platform uses multi-core processors and everything is happening all at once while SLC-500s/MicroLogixs, which is what you're learning on, run programs in a very different way. The book does go over the significant differences between how the two platforms process IO and execute the program. It's more of a beginner level programming book and doesn't go into add on profiles (AOPs) and user defined data types (UDTs), which were introduced in RSLogix 5000.

I don't know if you want to drop money on a text book or not, but I can suggest one that goes over the differences and shows you ControlLogix/CompactLogix (RSLogix 5000 & Studio 5000) and SLC-500/MicroLogix (RSLogix 500) code side by side.
